Gweedore Wins

We signed off the 2025 turf season in perfect style with Gweedore getting his head in front at Musselburgh under a typically strong Jason Hart ride. Musselburgh is a track that has always played to Gweedore’s strengths but before the race we were concerned about his wide draw. However, a decisive move from Jason seen him grab the rail and set some speedy early fractions, taking most of the runners out of their comfort zones. His early exuberance took its toll at the end of the race but he was tough in the finish and done enough to hold on.

Returning to the Winners Enclosure

Gweedore had us scratching our heads for the majority of the summer having thrown a troublesome and lingering splint in May that resulted in him missing most of the summer. His return to the winners enclosure is a credit to the patience and understanding of his owners at Lamont Racing, the work of our team of vets at Rowley Mile Equine and most of all sheer bloody mindedness from Abby his regular rider and I that we would see him back in the winners enclosure before the season was out. It was a huge sense of relief for us all to see him back where he should be. As you can imagine his prep this summer was far from ideal, he will now enjoy a nice holiday and next season will hopefully see things go a little smoother.

Crossing the Finish Line

I was lucky enough to have five nights away in the sunshine over last weeks flat racing break but its good to be back at it with a few runners planned on the all weather at the end of the week and over the weekend. It is also great to have our yearlings on the go, they are progressing well and building the excitement for 2026!
