End Of The Turf Season

We have had a busy few weeks heading to the end of the 2025 turf season, but things are turning quieter now with plenty of our horses who have been busy over the summer now enjoying some well earned R and R.

Undoubtably the highlight of the past couple of weeks has been Figjam’s second in the prestigious Doncaster Stakes where she secured a second helping of valuable black type and boosted page no end. It was a great day with a few of her owners from Lamont Racing in attendance to cheer her on under a typically strong ride from Jason Hart. The dream is alive with this big scopey mare and we can not wait to see what she can do next summer after a well earned break.

Another high point in the past couple of weeks was Concert Boy starting his AW campaign with a second at Newcastle over the weekend. After his 11th place in the All Weather Bonus last year earned him some lucrative prize money, our main aim this winter is to try and score as many points as possible again. The AW Championships is not just a test of ability, but also a test of a horses soundness and constitution. Concert Boy’s attitude and love of racing makes him an ideal candidate to have a shot at the competition.

Another horse in the yard that could end up being a good candidate for the All Weather Bonus is Cooperation. He finished 4th on his first run in the competition scoring some valuable points and takes up his second run in the series tomorrow night. His running style should make him a likely type for scoring regular points.

The All Weather Bonus has been a great addition to winter racing with great prize money on offer and it has added a lot of interest to the daily grind of all weather racing. It is a competition that has been particularly good to our small yard and we have successfully campaigned three different horses scoring some amazing prize money for horses of their grade.

Luna A Inbhir Nis on her Holidays

A trip south to the sales at Newmarket this week allowed me to visit Luna who is enjoying the life of luxury on her winter holidays at Childwickbury Stud. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the fabulous facilities and see all the stock on my visit, a great experience.

The trip to the sales was also fruitful with a new unexposed filly heading our way after she has a nice holiday to strengthen up and grow.

Our last turf runners of 2025 will most likely be at Musselburgh on Wednesday where both Gweedore and Falaise Blanc hold entries. After that we will focus on our all weather runners and getting our handful of yearlings on the go, exciting times ahead!
