Starting On Zero Again

After what was a brilliant season for the yard it is always daunting to be starting off again on zero winners, we all just want to get off the mark for 2026. It will be a pretty quiet first month for the yard, of our 3 runners so far Concert Boy has been the only one to land a blow when he finished a brilliant 4th up in grade in the hands of Greg Fairley.

Our only planned runner this coming week will see Concert Boy back out at Newcastle on Saturday night as he bids to gain more points and keep himself in contention for a top 30 finish in the Arc All Weather Horse Of The Year Championship.

Concert Boy and Niamh after his 4th on New Years Day

Gressington gave us a brilliant finish to 2025 when he scored his first win for the yard at Newcastle under a brave ride from Darragh Keenan, plenty of his owners were in attendance and it was a brilliant night to end of the season for us. A horse with bags of ability, it was great to see it all click in to place for him.

Gressington in the Winners Enclosure

The great thing about having such a great season as it gives us plenty ammunition to look forwards to this year. Two outstanding fillies in Luna and Figjam will be spearheading the charge, Gweedore bounced back to form and there looks to be a good race programme for him in Scotland this summer, Curious Rover looks fab after his holidays and Epidavros was unlucky not to land big pot last summer, something that would be very nice to rectify this year.

Some of the Team

We also have some newbies to be excited for. Our four two year olds have all impressed with their attitudes and have taken everything they have been asked so far in their stride giving them a good foundation to build on as they progress. A testament to the team on the yard. Some of our amazing owners have also restocked and given us chances with some lovely types that you will see out in the spring months

We have so much to be excited for and Concert Boy is flying the flag in the meantime on the all weather when the excitement for the turf is building in the background.

This weeks weather is definitely testing but we have avoided snow so far in the Scottish Borders. The bitterly cold weather is not pleasant but we can still get the work done on the yard.

Roll on the summer.
