Figjam Wins

It was fantastic to see Figjam get her head in front at Leicester on Tuesday in the hands of Rowan Scott. She had impressed on the gallops and put in two quality runs including a nice second at Hamilton and then a fourth in the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr so she thoroughly deserved to get that elusive win next to her name.

Lamont Racing looks to have unearthed another star and the future looks bright for this scopey daughter of Dandy Man who undoubtably looks the type to improve for another year under her belt. The dream is alive! The plan is for her to have one more run before a nice holiday but we will be directed by how she is in herself.

Another highlight of the past few weeks was the improvement of the lovely Yellow Lemons who finished a nice second at Newcastle on the same day. A lovely big filly who tries hard and shows enough on the gallops at home had previously left us banging our head against the wall a little. However this was a big step in the right direction under a lovely ride from Joanna. Hopefully we can continue on an upwards trajectory for her owners Summerstorm Bloodstock and nick a win with her soon.

It has been great to have Gweedore back out on a racecourse after he missed a lot of the turf season after throwing a troublesome splint in May. He has put in two solid runs finished 7th in both the Silver Cup at Ayr and the Coral Sprint Cup at York, both big and highly competitive fields. He will potentially head to Doncaster next week and then to his beloved Musselburgh at the start of November, a track where he has always put his best foot forwards.

The yard is a little quieter for now as we have turned a lot of our turf horses away on their much deserved summer holidays. We will be kept busy with a handful of horses we have to aim at the AW campaign and we also have a few yearlings to educate and learn their jobs for next year.
