3yo’s To The Fore

The future looks bright at Katie Scott Racing with a couple of improving 3yos on the score sheet in the past fortnight.

Tarlac won in style at Ripon last week in the hands of Joanna Mason where he enjoyed a little cut in the ground. Tarlac was purchased by URSA Major Racing at the October sale, Craig very much liked his profile in the catalogue and I liked the physical specimen on sale day. He now looks a shrewd buy. He is a big backwards type and it has taken a while for the penny to drop, but he is from a family that improves with age and we hope he will continue on an upwards trajectory. The handicapper did have his say however with a 6lb rise for his efforts.

Tarlac in the Winners Enclosure

Luna A Inbhir Nis has been in flying form and notched up her 4th success of the season from 5 runs at Musselburgh yesterday. The step up in class did not phase this big powerful filly and she took it all in her stride, winning in good fashion in the hands of Joe Fanning. Summerstorm Bloodstock were there to cheer her home and it is always such a thrill to get a Saturday winner at your local track. She is a very exciting filly for us to have in the yard and lots to look forwards to.

Luna in the Winners Enclosure

We have had plenty of horses running well without winning over the past few weeks to.

Clasina ran a great race at Wetherby, she finished a very close and professional 3rd and looks like she is learning her job all the time for Star Racing. In the same colours Epidavros ran one of her career bests for a nice 3rd at Hamilton. Sacred Falls crossed the line in 4th at Ripon after ending up trapped on the rail, she ran well in the circumstances which were far from ideal.

Epidavros and Abby at Hamilton

Another filly took a bit of a step forwards was Straya who seemed to relish the step up in trip at Hamilton, although we were unable to see her to full effect as she was badly hampered in the closing stages.

The week ahead could be busy depending on Sunday at Hamilton, where we will be entering a fair few for the Sunday Series but it will be competitive stuff and will likely depend on ballot numbers etc. We head to Catterick on Tuesday with Baby Rover and Clasina, Falaise Blanc holds an entry at Hamilton on Wednesday and Luna may take up an engagement at York on Friday.

We have not ran any 2yos this season as of yet, but we do have 3 at various stages on the yard. They are all backend types though. The most forward of them is Eva, a lovely big filly we have in for Lamont Racing, she has been showing us plenty at home and is definitely exciting going forwards. We love having babies on the yard learning their jobs, it is extra satisfying when they make it to the winners enclosure and you have done the work from day dot.

Plenty to look forwards to!
